Alive

A couple nights ago I was watercoloring, and I suddenly realized that this was what I want to do with my life. I recently told my sister that watercoloring was that one activity that truly makes me come alive and feel like I have some semblance of talent. Sitting there and painting, I actually realized the truth in that statement, and that, if this is so, I must somehow find a way to make watercoloring my life's work.

Howard Thurman said once, "Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive."

I think I've found what makes me come alive.

My life is [so] average.

School is SO hectic lately. I'm trying to get a lot done before Thanksgiving break, but my free time is basically nonexistent now because I GOT A JOB. omgiknowright.

Also, mylifeisaverage.com has taken over my life. Which is average.

I did, however, have time to doodle up some Harry Potter fan art...

November Self Portraiture

My self portrait of the day.

We found out today that a dear family friend died yesterday. She always encouraged me in my art, even when I was really little. I will always be thankful for that, and am once again reminded that we cannot take anything for granted.

Happy Halloween!
[I am slightly obsessed with 'Bones' and made this super lame fan art for Halloween this year :)] Hope everyone stays safe tonight!

Autumnal Cinematic Fever? I vote yes.

Feeling kind of autumnal today. It's unusually warm in Michigan right now; tomorrow it's supposed to be 64. Ridiculous[ly awesome]!!

Today I watched:
  • 'Divorce, American Style,' which I had not seen before and thought was an interesting trying-to-push-the-late-1960's-envelope movie, and it had some funny parts. Dick Van Dyke & Debbie Reynolds, plus Jean Simmons & Jason Robards. Score.
  • 'Singin' In The Rain,' which I have not watched in ages. "Ages" in my world being like over three months, lol.
  • 'Summer Stock,' because you can't just watch one Gene Kelly movie. They're like Pringles.
  • 'Easter Parade,' because, yeah, you can't just watch one Judy movie. They're like cocaine.
A very productive day, I would say.

Welcome to my sketchy life

In the beginning there was a doodle. I'm a big fan of doodles, and I'm a big fan of sketch blogs. Thus, I said to myself, "Self, why don't you start one of those?" I could not come up with a decent reason not to. So here is my sketch blog, measly as it may turn out to be.

Welcome to my sketchy life.
